The fourth annual James Horning
Memorial wrestling tournament will be held Saturday, Jan. 19
at the Mason Arena at Mason Middle School. Wrestling will
begin at 9:30 a.m., with the finals tentatively set for 6 p.m.
The competition was named in
memory of former senior captain James Horning, who was
tragically killed in an automobile accident in Oct. 2003.
The purpose of this tournament is
to keep Horning’s spirit and memory alive as well as raise
money to benefit athletes in need and raise awareness of the
need to wear seat belts, according to a news release from the
Mason athletic department.
There will be 10 teams
participating in the tournament including Centerville, Central
Crossing, Dublin Coffman, Greenville, Kettering Fairmont,
Mason, Milford, Olentangy, Rochester (Mich.) and two-time
defending champions Lakota West.
