FAVC Wrestling Championships

 

Three teams won their respective divisions in the 31st annual Fort Ancient Valley Conference wrestling championships Saturday night, according to the FAVC Web site.

 

Harrison won its third consecutive Buckeye division title and its seven in the past nine years.

 

Andrew Tumlin (189 pounds) was named the Buckeye wrestler of the year while Chad Dennis was named the coach of the year. Tumlin is 23-0 with nine pins.

 

In the Cardinal division, Wilmington won its first title since 2005 and its seventh overall. Christopher Holcomb  (285) was named the wrestler of the year for the Hurricanes.

Holcomb is first in the FAVC in his weight class with a 26-3 record with 21 pins.

Wilmington’s Jeff Wiederhold was named coach of the year.

 

Ross won the Scarlet title for the first time and it’s the fifth league title overall for the Rams. Ross coach Rich Dunn was named coach of the year.

 

Norwood’s Tyler Alsip (119) was the wrestler of the year. Alsip, ranked first in the FAVC in his weight class, is 39-1 with 17 pins.
