Mercy, MND Finish 1-2 In State Ranking

 

Mercy and Mount Notre Dame finished Nos. 1-2 in the final Ohio state Division I volleyball poll released today.

 

The Bobcats (21-1) received 23 of the 33 first place votes cast for a total of 316 points. Mount Notre Dame (18-4) received nine first place votes for 291 points.  No. 9 Chaminade-Julienne received the other first place vote. 

 

Mercy and Mt. Notre Dame split their two-game series during the regular season, with the Cougars dealing Mercy their only loss of the season to date.

 

Fellow Girls Greater Catholic League teams McAuley (6) and Ursuline (7) finished in the top 10.

 

Wyoming (20-2) finished No. 6 in Division II.

 

The sectional tournament is already under way in all divisions.  Wyoming has advanced to the final of the Division II Goshen bracket and will play Indian Hill on Saturday for the title.

 

In Division I, top-seeded Mercy opens up tomorrow night against Woodward in the Lakota East bracket.  Mt. Notre Dame opens up tonight against Walnut Hills in the Withrow bracket.
