Jamie Harloff has
been named the new head boys’ soccer coach at Turpin, pending
Board of Education approval next week. Harloff, who has been
the head coach at Wilson High School in Florence, S.C. since
2004, has also been an assistant women’s coach at Francis
Marion College since 2005. Francis Marion is an NCAA Division
I soccer program.
Turpin athletic
director Tony Hemmelgarn said Harloff has been a health
teacher at Sneed Middle School for the past eight years.
Harloff has been able to coach soccer at both schools because
high school soccer is played in the spring in
South Carolina.
Hemmelgarn said
Harloff’s 2007 team went 18-0 and he garnered regional coach
of the year honors in 2005 and 2007.
"We interviewed
several solid candidates for the head coach position,”
Hemmelgarn said.
“Jamie stood out
as someone who is passionate, enthusiastic and committed to
making a difference for our kids. He has a strong work ethic,
a dynamic personality and we are excited about his ability to
lead our program into the future."
