When it came to time to make a
college decision, a lot of things came together for Moeller
senior forward Quinn McDowell. McDowell recently made an
oral commitment to play basketball at William & Mary last
week. It is a Division I school in Colonial Athletic
Association.
“There was a good spiritual
background with the school,” McDowell said. “A whole bunch
of things came together.”
McDowell’s father, Dave, played
football there and that also factored into the decision.
McDowell, who is 6-5 and 195
pounds, averaged 14.7 points and 4.6 rebounds for the
Crusaders last season. Moeller (25-2) defeated St. Xavier in
the Division I state championship game in Columbus.
McDowell said he is looking
forward to this upcoming season and said the added pressure
of being defending state champions is something he will
enjoy. Moeller coach Carl Kremer said McDowell had all the
intangibles of a Division I prospect.
“He’s tough and competitive and
you factor in that he can really shoot,” Kremer said.
McDowell also considered Loyola
University Chicago, Liberty and Davidson.
