track and final year of football

Posey has felt significant relief since he orally committed to
play football at Ohio State the night of March 11.
“It’s great
because now I can relax and I know where I am going,” Posey said
Wednesday night at the Coaches Classic track meet at Fairfield.
“I’m not pressing to impress anybody. I am just relaxed and it’s
been fun. I can just focus on track and on my senior (football)
season. I can just relax and just be a kid.”
Posey and
Elder’s Kyle Rudolph are listed as among the top football
players in the state for the 2008 class. Rudolph recently
committed to play at Notre Dame.
Posey, who
is listed as 6 feet 3 inches and 195 pounds, had 35 receptions
for 750 yards and seven touchdowns as
La Salle’s
leading wide receiver.
Posey hopes
to qualify for the Nike Outdoor Nationals track event this
summer, but said he would also like to travel to some football
camps – and take some vacation.
“I’ll
probably just relax and work out,” Posey said.
For now,
Posey and his track teammates are focused on doing well at the
regional meet later this spring and hope to qualify for state in
various sprint relay events.
“Posey is
the real deal,”
La Salle
coach Frank Russo. “He’s an incredible competitor and leader. He
leads by example in practice everyday.” |
