LaRosa commits to Mount St. Joseph
By Mike Dyer
Mercy
senior guard Abby LaRosa has committed to play basketball at
Mount St. Joseph, the college announced today.
LaRosa, who
is 5 feet and 3 inches, is ranked fifth in her class of 154 at
Mercy and has a 4.4 grade-point average.
"I think
the Mount is a great choice for Abby," Mercy coach Mary Jo
Huismann said. "She is a very well-rounded student. She played a
couple of sports and is involved in a lot of activities."
LaRosa has
been a member of the National Honor Society since her sophomore
year. LaRosa, who plans to major in nursing, played softball and
basketball for four years at Mercy and has been involved with
other activities at school such as Student Council and the Peer
to Peer program.
"She has a
lot of leadership qualities," Huismann said. "She chose the
Mount mainly because of their art program."
The Lions
were 7-17 and 2-14 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference last winter.
