2002 graduate a strong contender for 2008
Olympics
Former
Lakota East wrestling standout Hetag Pliev (Class of 2002)
recently captured a Silver Medal at the Canadian Nationals.
Pliev’s
only loss was to David Zilberman, a three-time Canadian National
Champion (5th in the 2006 World Championships).
Pliev’s accomplishment is noteworthy as this was a World/Olympic
level championship event.
Pliev
was a
two-time state champion at East and was voted Ohio's Most
Outstanding Wrestler. During his high school career he compiled
an amazing record of 74-1 and was the #1 ranked 189-lb wrestler

USA Junior National Freestyle Champion and a NWCA Senior
Nationals Champion.
Hetag is
considered a strong contender for a berth at the 2008 Olympics
to be held in Beijing, China. An article on Pliev’s background
