Hogeback, who was second in the
area in scoring average (38.1) and tied for seventh at the
state tournament last season, returns to the course this
year averaging almost 15 yards longer off the tee.
Dugan said Hogeback is
averaging about 280 yards on her drives. While she had a
very good freshman season, Dugan said Hogeback was
disappointed in her finish at state – something that
motivates her for the 2007 campaign.
“The
maturity factor is huge for her,” Colerain coach Kerry Dugan
said. “That freshman
year is such a shock. She’s walking around (this fall) with
a lot of confidence and also even a smile on her face. She
is such a competitive kid, but mostly competitive with
herself.”
Hogeback has had a solid
summer, which included wins at the Glenview Club
Championship, the Westfield Junior PGA qualifier in
Fairfield, the Hamilton County Park District junior
championship and the Cincinnati Met Junior girls division.
The Cardinals also return Becky
Wiesman, who had a 42.1 average as a junior. Wiesman and
Hogeback helped the Cardinals to a fourth-place finish at
sectionals.
