CHL Showdown At Deer Park
Indian Hill puts 24-game league streak on line
By Mike Dyer
Indian Hill football coach Kevin
Siple is very honest when he analyzes the Deer Park game this
week.
“Our 24 game (regular-season)
winning streak in the CHL is in jeopardy this week,” Siple
said.
The Braves (6-2, 5-0 CHL) are at
Deer Park (7-1, 4-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday. This game will
undoubtedly have implications in the league standings with
just two weeks to go.
The Indian Hill defense and Deer
Park defense will certainly be a good match-up. Indian Hill
quarterback Bo Cordell has thrown for league-best 2,152 yards
this season. However, Deer Park is solid upfront and with the
linebacker corps.
“The best we have seen,” Siple
said. “They will pressure sometimes, and drop and cover other
times. We just have to recognize what they are in and not make
mistakes.”
Deer Park senior Ben Rascona is
fourth in the CHL in rushing yards with 554 and has seven
rushing touchdowns.
“He is like Superman,” Siple
said. “He plays running back, receiver, slot, QB, DB, OLB,
does the punting and place-kicking and returns kicks and punts
and plays a full season of soccer. I would not be surprised if
he doesn’t serve hot dogs in the concession stand too.”
Indian Hill has just one turnover
the past four weeks and only two sacks all season (against
Turpin and Finneytown) so that bodes well for the Braves.
Whatever strategy each coach
decides Friday night, Siple believes this will be a very good
game.
