The final
game under the lights features defending Ohio Division I state
champion Cincinnati St. Xavier and Cleveland Lakewood St.
Edward, an Ohio Division I state semifinalist from a year ago.
Sports Illustrated has picked this match-up as one of the
top 10 prep football games to watch in the country this season.
St. Edward (2-0) comes into the game ranked No. 8 in the country
in the USA Today Super 25 poll while St. Xavier (2-0) is ranked
No. 13 by USA Today. The Eagles have out-scored their first two
opponents by a 55-7 count while St. Xavier has been equally as
dominant, whipping their two opponents by a 75-17 margin.
Highlands
plays Louisville St. Xavier in a game that pits two of
Kentucky’s
premier prep football programs against one another. The
Bluebirds have won a state record-tying 16 state titles in its
history while the Tigers have won 11.
Highlands
(2-1) comes into the game ranked No. 1 in Kentucky Class 3A in
the Associated Press state poll while the Tigers (3-0) are
ranked No. 2 in Kentucky Class 4A.
Massillon
and Moeller with their rich traditions will square off in
another contest. Massillon has won 22 mythical poll titles
while the Crusaders have won seven Ohio state titles. The
Tigers (2-0) have steamrolled through their first two games by a
127-13 count and are ranked No. 3 in the
Midwest
by MaxPreps.com. The Crusaders (1-1) are currently ranked ninth
in
Cincinnati in the latest coaches’ poll.
Withrow and
Taft open up the full day of football with a Southwest Ohio
Public League tilt. The Tigers (1-1) are knocking on the door
of the top 10 in Cincinnati Division I while Taft (1-1) is also
close to obtaining top 10 status in the small-school
divisions.
All four games will be carried live on FSN Ohio.
The Prep
Classic, conducted by Reach Event Marketing, is the direct
result of a concerted effort between Hamilton County officials,
the Cincinnati Bengals, Anthony Muñoz
Foundation, Marvin Lewis Community Fund and Cris Collinsworth
ProScan Foundation to bring an annual showcase prep football
event to the Greater Cincinnati area that features top prep
football programs.
Tickets are on sale now at all the schools and at Paul Brown
Stadium on game day when the box office opens at 9am.
