The annual St. Xavier Cross
Country Invitational – one of the largest in Ohio – will
feature more than 2,000 runners from over 60 schools on
Saturday.
The meet will have 11 races,
beginning with the junior high girls open race at 8:30 a.m.
The high school schedule includes
the girls Division II at 11:10 a.m., followed by Division I
girls (11:40), boys Division II (12:10 p.m.) and the Division
I boys close the event with a 12:40 p.m. start time.
“We’re fortunate to have so many
athletes and that we have a lot of opportunities for them to
run competitively,” St. X coach Mike Dehring said. “But we
love this time of year, starting with the St. X Invitational,
where we can focus on who our top seven guys will be and begin
to put our state team together.”
The Bombers finished second in
the All-Ohio Catholic meet Sept. 22 in Kettering. St. X are
led by senior Dan Thaler, who was second in the meet finishing
with a time of 16:10 in the 3.1 mile course.
