Milford, St.
Xavier Win Sectional Bowling Titles
The Milford girls’
bowling team won the sectional championship at Mason Bowl last
Saturday and advanced to the district tournament this weekend.
It is the first Milford bowling team to advance to the
district level.
According to the
Milford athletic department, it was the first time a Milford
squad has had two bowlers with over 200 pins in the same match
- Kaiti King and Brittany Jacobs both bowled 201 games.
It was also the first time that
two regulation games reached over 800 pins. The team also
scored over 200 pins in two Baker games and had a record high
single Baker game of 233.
Milford (13-8, 5-5)
finished third in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye
division during the regular season.
The St. Xavier bowling team won
the 15-team sectional at Colerain Bowl last Saturday and is
looking forward to the district tournament this weekend. It is
the second season St. X won the sectional tournament. Senior
Jason Moore led all bowlers with a three-game series of 716,
including a high game of 279.
Moore just missed the
school record for a three-game series in the playoffs. Jack
Lennon had a 721 in 2006 at Stump’s Lanes.
Sophomore Chris Weber had a 675
series and was third overall. He had a high game of 237.
The boys’ district
tournament is Saturday at Eastern Lanes in Middletown.
The snow date is Monday at the
same location.
