Not so last
night. It was a typically tight game until midway through the
third quarter when the Bulldogs pulled away from a 35-35 tie
and then held off the Colonels
from the free throw line in the final quarter.
CovCath led
12-5 early in the game but Holmes rallied back to take a 17-16
first quarter lead and stretched it to 29-26 by halftime.
The deep
Bulldogs placed four players in double figure scoring led by
Arrez Henderson (11), Braeon Avery (11), Ricardo Johnson (11)
and Terrance Clark (10). A total of 10 players scored for Holmes
on the night.
Junior Luke
Maile scored a game-high 20 points to lead CovCath. Junior
guard Mitch Shover added 13 points.
Holmes
(31-2) will face Region 5 champion Bardstown in the opening
round of the Sweet Sixteen next Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Rupp
Arena.
