Cincinnati girls’ basketball has a slew of blue chip recruits in several different conferences led by senior Amber Gray of Lakota West, a University of Tennessee recruit who averaged 22 points and 11 rebounds last season.  Teammate Quinessa Johnson (St. Francis) gives the Firebirds a potent 1-2 punch.

Oak Hills has a pair of Division I recruits in Jessica Pachko (Marquette) and Amanda Keehan (West Virginia) as does Princeton with Ariel Thomas (Miami) and Jayne Cox (Northeastern).  Maribeth Giese of Mercy (Bowling Green) will be a standout in the GGCL along with Mount Notre Dame’s Channing Hillman (UTEP) and Tia McBride (Georgetown).

The Fort Ancient Valley Conference has its own DI recruits in Winton Woods’ Courtney Lumpkin (Morehead State) and Anderson’s Maria Bennett (Wright State).  Taft’s Kaelin Reid (St. Louis) will be a standout in the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference.

In boys’ basketball, Withrow senior Yancy Gates is ranked in the top 100 nationally by both Scout.com and Rivals.com after averaging 19.4 points and seven rebounds a game last year on his way to earning second-team all-state honors.  Kyle Rudolph of Elder, a Notre Dame football recruit (p.X), is another top big man.  Other top GCL players include St. Xavier’s Walt Gibler (Loyola, Ill.), Quinn McDowell (William & Mary) and Matt Roberts (The Citadel) of Moeller.

Milford’s Brandon Baker (Belmont) will be one of the top players in the GMC.  Top underclassmen include Loveland junior forward Bobby Capobianco, La Salle junior Danny McElroy and Winton Woods’ super sophomore Allen Payne.
